Greg Guse – 2012 NAMA Marketer of the Year

Just a few months into 2012 and already it’s shaping up to be a banner year for Paulsen! One highlight is that our very own Greg Guse has been recognized as the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) Marketer of the Year. It is agri-marketing’s highest personal award, reserved for an industry professional who, like Greg, is committed to NAMA, shows an innovative approach to marketing, has a deep understanding of the issues facing agriculture and has made outstanding contributions to the success of the businesses he represents.

Greg’s many accomplishments span a 35-year career that has always been focused on agriculture; from his early days as a communications assistant at GTA Feeds, a young account guy at Martin Williams, starting his own agency, Gregory Scott Communications, to his fortuitous arrival at Paulsen Marketing in 1995. Greg became president of Paulsen in 2008, and his vision for what agri-marketing can and should be has helped our agency grow, our clients thrive and the industry evolve.

Greg began his NAMA career in 1978, serving in many capacities over the years. He is also committed to Paulsen staff involvement with NAMA. At the regional NAMA awards show in 2011, Greg chartered a bus to take over half of the Paulsen staff to the awards ceremony. Greg also encouraged Paulsen’s attainment of Sustaining Partner for the first time in our 61-year history.

Of course, Greg’s most visible and proudest career accomplishment is Paulsen Marketing itself. His leadership brings out the best in people, and his infectious enthusiasm for agri-marketing brings out the best in our industry. His leadership style is much like agriculture itself—take care of the soil, plant the seeds, weather the storms and reap what you sow. And above all, never stop learning.

Greg believes in the power of youth and innovation to keep agri-marketing fresh and relevant. He believes in giving opportunities to and nurturing people. And he believes in the promise of NAMA to identify and empower tomorrow’s agri-marketing leaders—not just through seminars, but also through real-world, hands-on examples. Greg truly lives the NAMA ideals every day.
