Paulsen Wins Best of Show, Steever Awarded Creative Legacy

March 13, 2012

Saturday, March 10 was a red letter day for Paulsen as the agency won the Best of Show—Broadcast, and Vice President, Digital Services Sara Steever was recognized with the Creative Legacy Award at the South Dakota Advertising Federation’s 46th annual Addy Award Show.

The Best of Show entry was a sixty second TV commercial produced on behalf of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council titled Thanks, SD Farmers. The spot was produced during the harvest season of fall 2011 by Clara Jacob, creative director, Jon Marohl, art director and Janet Andersen, senior project manager for Paulsen.

“We’ve received such tremendous feedback since this spot began running last Thanksgiving. Farmers and city people alike really seem to identify with the message of this commercial,” said Andersen. “To win Best of Show in the Addy competition is truly confirmation that this is a very special TV commercial.”

The winning TV entry will go on to District Eight of the American Advertising Federation to be judged among winning entries from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Agency President Greg Guse expressed his pleasure with the Best of Show win as well, “We are absolutely thrilled with this honor. I can’t say enough about our creative team on the South Dakota Corn account. And our client including Teddi Mueller, Lisa Richardson and the growers serving on the Council Board and Association Board have been wonderful to work with. It is their award as much as our agency’s. This is a tremendous win for all of us!”

Sara Steever, VP, digital services received the SDAF Creative Legacy Award, given each year to an advertising practitioner who elevates the creativity of work being produced in the market and who serves as a mentor and model for young people who are pursuing a career in the field of advertising and marketing. Sara is a 20-year veteran of Paulsen and is credited with building the agency’s award-winning digital and interactive services capability.

Mike Dowling, VP, creative services at Paulsen commented, “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this very special award than Sara Steever. Her vision, her creativity and her passion for digital communications have given our agency an important competitive advantage.
