October 10, 2014

Global agriculture development, commodity outlooks, climate changes and consumer food trends were among the topics discussed at the 3rd annual Women in Agribusiness Summit held in New Orleans October 6-8. Paulsen President Sara Steever and Public Relations Director Krystil Smit attended the event and joined leading executive women in agribusiness from throughout the value chain for learning and networking opportunities.

“The 2014 Women In Agribusiness conference was a great opportunity to hear from women in a variety of roles in agriculture discuss issues ranging from local to global in scope,” Steever said. “From food security, sustainability, innovation, regulation and workforce challenges to personal development skills, these leaders in agriculture shared their professional and personal expertise from their unique perspectives.”

Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Krysta Harden was one of the keynote speakers at the event. She described her own efforts to help the next generation of agricultural leaders, particularly women, be successful in helping America continue to feed the world and maintain a strong agriculture economy.

“The Women in Agribusiness Summit was an outstanding occasion to not only support and recognize women’s leadership roles in agriculture but also offered important perspectives and knowledge from the brightest minds in our industry,” Smit said.
