Paulsen’s summer intern Anshu Chandra was born and raised in India until age nine, when his parents moved to the U.S. and settled in Brooklyn, New York, for two years as Anshu’s father was finishing up his residency in pediatric endocrinology.
The family then moved to Sioux Falls. Anshu went to Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls and graduated from the University of South Dakota this spring with a degree in marketing.
Once his internship is complete, he hopes to continue working in marketing. “Digital marketing is what I’ve wanted to focus on since my junior year of college,” Anshu says. “And marketing is what I’ve wanted to do since my sophomore year in high school, thanks to getting involved in DECA.”
He says he was leaning toward following in his father’s footsteps and going to medical school, but math, beyond the basics, helped him change his course.
“Trigonometry, calculus, abstract algebra—I decided, no, I’m not going to do this.”
Anshu’s time at Paulsen has been focused on digital marketing projects, and he has especially enjoyed the strategic elements.
“It’s been great, strategizing campaign ideas, researching opportunities and learning more about clients and their needs and challenges. And I really like the people here.”
