AgUnited Annual Meeting Features National Pork Producers’ CEO

December 15, 2016

Bill Even, former South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture and currently CEO of the National Pork Producers Council, was the featured speaker at the AgUnited for South Dakota annual meeting, held December 12 in Sioux Falls.

Even’s keynote address encouraged South Dakota producers to invest in livestock production as producers in surrounding states have done.

“Here in South Dakota, we’re often times frugal to a fault,” he said. “I encourage producers to invest in expanding and growing their livestock enterprises. The long-term future of agriculture depends on investing in the next generation of ag producers to create a viable livestock industry.”

Paulsen staffers Sara Steever, president; Brittany Lessman and Allyse Steffen, account specialists and Greg Guse, EVP, industry analyst, attended the AgUnited luncheon.

“It was interesting to learn of the livestock expansion possibilities we have here in South Dakota,” said Allyse. “With all the grain we produce here in South Dakota, it only makes sense to add value to that grain through expanded livestock production.”
