Growing Your Agribusiness Career: 2019 NAMA Boot Camp

August 20, 2019

At the 2019 NAMA Boot Camp event, Paulsen President Sara Steever presented From the Experts: Career Advice for the second year in a row. The presentation comes from the Spark: Careers in Agribusiness podcast for which Steever has interviewed over 40 leaders in agriculture for their perspective on a successful career.

“There are so many opportunities in agriculture, and we want to encourage students and recent graduates to use their talents in a career in ag. NAMA Boot Camp is a perfect format to share the advice from these amazing leaders in ag,” says Steever.

Quotes from leaders interviewed for the Spark: Careers in Agribusiness podcast were compiled and shared with over 90 attendees at the event.

According to Steever, the essentials boiled down to two themes: The brand called you and building a strategic network.

The brand called you encourages continuous learning and adopting a growth mindset. It also includes developing the self-compassion and resilience needed for taking risks during the process of growing and improving.

Building a strategic network focuses on tactics such as making the most of networking events, improving listening skills and benefiting from mentoring.
