Paulsen Welcomes James Dykes

January 3, 2018

Former Paulsen intern James Dykes joined the company as a full-time employee December 18, 2017. His title is digital marketing coordinator/ad ops.

“Between the variety in my job and working alongside experienced people, I’m constantly learning and growing at Paulsen,” James says.

His responsibilities include media planning, digital asset coordination and digital analytics.

“James is a great addition to the team,” says Media Group Director Kristi Moss. “His background in computers and mathematics provides us and our clients with an excellent resource.”

After beginning college with an interest in computer science, James discovered marketing. He graduated from South Dakota State University (SDSU) in December 2017 with a major in advertising and a minor in marketing. He was part of an American Advertising Federation student team that made it to finals in 2017.

In addition to his internship at Paulsen, which began during the summer of 2017, James was a marketing and social media intern at Strawbale Winery in 2016. He also served as program director at KSDJ 90.7 in Brookings, S.D., and managed the SDSU student union.

No stranger to hard work, James also spent two summers as a production employee at John Morrell in Sioux Falls. In one position he lifted sides of pork onto a circular saw for 40-plus hours a week.

James grew up in Tea, S.D. During his teen years he earned the Eagle Scout Award.

When James isn’t working, he plays electric guitar, collects records, watches old movies (“Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” is his favorite) and enjoys sushi and craft beers, though not necessarily together.
