Peterson Farms Seed Field Day

September 9, 2019

Every year, Peterson Farms Seed hosts its annual Field Day open to farmers, media partners, students, industry experts and more. This year a few Paulsenites made the three-hour trek north to Harwood, N.D., for the event.

The day was filled with activities, speakers and tours, all supporting Peterson Farms Seed’s primary objective, which is to help farmers produce bigger yields. Guest speakers touched on topics related to planter settings, plant architecture and tips to protect crop yields.

Our most memorable takeaways from the day came from guest speaker Ken Ferrie, field agronomist for Farm Journal, who discussed corn plant architecture.

“Outside of the usual information about corn hybrids–maturity, root strength, drought tolerance, etc.—Ken focused on leaf structure and the differences between pendulum and upright leaves and which leaf structures may be better in certain situations,” said Hannah Gebauer, Paulsen account specialist.

The team from Paulsen attending the event included Hannah; VP, Creative Services Mike Dowling; VP, Client Services Marcus Squier; and Media Group Director Kristi Moss.
